Float or sink?
As part of our topic based learning this half term, we have been exploring different modes of transport and the children will be challenged to make their own boats to race on the beck next week. In order to do this, the children explored a variety of materials and objects to see whether they would float or sink. We learnt new vocabulary including dense, particles, submerge and buoyant and learnt that the shape of an object as well as the material that it is made from can determine whether an object will float or sink. We also investigated which materials were waterproof and which ones were not and absorbed water. We had lots of fun investigating! The children will use this knowledge to help them to design and make their boats.
