On Thursday 21st January, choir visited Carr Croft Care Home to sing carol and Christmas songs to the elderly. It gave the children and staff great pleasure seeing how this visit lifted the spirits of the residents. There was lots of clapping and it was wonderful to see everyone singing along with Away in a Manger and Jingle Bells. We are already thinking about the songs we can sing at our next visit at Easter.
A lovely letter from Stainbeck Church thanking the children for the Christmas Party that the school put on for local residents. It is great to see our vision in action and having an impact in the wider world.
On 7th December a number of KS2 children attended a dodgeball tournament at Allerton Grange High School. It was a great event and the children had lots of fun.
On 7th December the children from year 6, alongside Interact, organised a Christmas Party for the local residents in our community. The party took place at Stainbeck Church. The children handed our gifts, provided entertainment and had a good old chat with different people. It was a great to celebrate our vision of: Open Hearts, Open Minds and Open Arms.
20.11.2023 Leeds Leider came to visit Year 6 for an opera workshop. The children listen to a short opera performance sung in German and came up with ideas about the themes and characters in the song. They learnt about conducting dynamics in a song and they even wrote their own song to a Schubert piece of music!

Shoeboxes collected for the charity 'Children in Distress'. Thank you to all the members of our school community who contributed.
We shared a lovely morning with our colleagues from Dunkirk in France. We explored the school together ,spoke to the children and learned about how French schools are both similar and different to British schools. It was an amazing experience that we hope will develop into a fruitful relationship between the two schools.
