U11's Road to Wembley Football Tournament City Finals
On Wednesday 24th January 8 children from year 6 (Nico Reid, Leon Jones, Ewan Baker, Lily-May Hooper, Kayla Mutebuka, Alex Stephenson, Joshua Bright, Nick Sinclair) took part in the next stage of the Road to Wembley tournament competing against the best 10 schools from across the city. The tournament was split into 2 groups of 5 teams, 4 games were played in each group.
Meanwood 1-2 Holy Family
Meanwood 1-1 Woodlesford
Meanwood 2-0 St Benedicts
Meanwood 3-0 St Mary's Horsforth
After an incredible effort from all of the team we managed to make it through the group stage to the semi-final to play Primrose Primary. After a very close encounter, unfortunately we were knocked out on penalties by the team that went on to win the tournament. Unbelievable effort from every one of the children to get this far and be the third best football team in the city.
