Summer Detectives

Today, children started to learn about our new topic: holidays, travel and transport. For our first lesson, children revisited their prior learning about the different seasons, and how to recognise signs of each season. I explained that we were going to go on a summer walk, and children brainstormed what they thought they would see in the park this season. They thought they might see flowers, shoots on bushes and trees, and lots of different animals such as bees, ladybirds, spiders, tadpoles, butterflies and wasps. On our summer walk, children were challenged to pick anything they could find that reminded them of summer, and to make a summer crown to celebrate the holiday season. All children were eager to make their summer crown and were very proud of their creation.
