Preparing Eid celebration food

As part of our learning in PSHE this half term, we have been looking at different events that people celebrate throughout the year. One of our student teachers is fasting for Ramadan and came to talk Year 1 about Ramadan and talked about the foods her and her family enjoy eating the most during Eid celebrations. The following week, Miss Mehboob came to help the children prepare and make some of her favourite Eid treats: gol gappey, spring rolls and dates dipped in chocolate! The children got to practise using the claw and bridge knife techniques that they had learnt earlier on in the year when chopping the gol gappey ingredients. The children loved making and tasting all of the food and were very proud to share it with some of the staff around school. too. Take a look at some of our photos.
