School Closure- Friday 15th January 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

The last thing we needed was snow! But snow we have and an awful lot of it. Unlike almost every Primary School around us, we did manage to stay open today. But many Staff and children have had nightmare journeys home; conditions were treacherous and some people have taken as long as five hours to cover distances that would usually take 30 mins. The forecast is for a severe frost and freezing fog overnight. Conditions around school will be treacherous tomorrow.

So School will be closed on Friday, on Health and Safety grounds. We know that this will be inconvenient for some families, but a relief for those who now won’t have to leave home! All work is available online and children can access this via the VLE. Staff will be online tomorrow to provide support for learning.

In the meantime, please stay safe everybody. As if Covid wasn’t enough, you now have slips and falls to beware of.  If you’re in the park sledging, then please remember that the infection rates in Meanwood are amongst the highest in Leeds, so keep that distance. We have worked so very, very hard to keep everyone well for the past two weeks and it would be heart-breaking to see that go to waste for a bit of snow....
