Mental Health Awareness Day

Today we had an interesting, important and fun day where we discussed the importance of mental health and how to make sure we keep our brains healthy as well as our bodies.  We all dressed in yellow to show unity and support to such an important issue. The children attended a special assembly where the definition of mental health was discussed, the children also watched a really interesting animation that documented the journeys of other children and their mental health stories. The afternoon saw us discuss ‘small’ and ‘big’ feelings and what we can do to help us when faced with them. We created our own ‘Stressful Feelings Buckets’ which allowed the children to talk about their feelings and the strategies they can use to control them. Well done Year 5 on such a mature, honest and open afternoon of discussion.
