Litter Picking in Our Local Area
As part of our Plastic Pollution in Our Oceans topic, children have been learning about the devastating effects that plastic pollution has on marine animals and their habitats. We learnt about how so much plastic gets into our oceans and that one cause is litter being dropped and then getting blown into rivers/streams and ending up in the sea. The children have shown such passion and enthusiasm for this topic that we decided to go on a local litter picking expedition to one small thing that can help the plastic pollution problem. The children were alarmed by how much rubbish we found and felt extremely satisfied by how they had transformed the appearance of a very small area by ridding it of litter.
