Great Fire of London

We had an exciting time at Temple Newsam learning about The Great Fire of London.  We took on the role of fire detectives and explored the house for clues about how a fire might spread in 1666.  We then acted out The Great Fire of London and learnt about the diary of Samuel Pepys.  In the afternoon we made tankards to imitate the ones that King Charles II gave to people who stayed to help fight the fire.  We also had a go at writing with ink and quills like Samuel Pepys.

A fascinating day was had by all.  A big thank you to the staff at Temple Newsam for making our day so enjoyable.
