Science - Experimenting With Materials
This week we started our first Science topic of the year - 'Properties and Changes of Materials'. We started by looking at lots of different materials and investigating their properties. After defining what a materials are and familiarising ourselves with lots of scientific properties we put the materials through a range of tests. Year 5 rated each one out of 5 against these properties. Later in the week, we investigated the process of dissolving. The children learnt the difference between dissolving and melting and the class investigated how long (if at all) a substance dissolved in different temperatures of water. They chose their own variables and decided how much of a substance they would add, if they would mix it and the size of the container it was placed into. Great work Year 5!
