Diversity Role Models workshop. Celebrating Difference!
Today's workshop was incredible! The children explored a variety of different families and used key vocabulary such as adopted, fostered, single-parent, gay, lesbian, mixed race, blended family and extended family when describing different types of families. One common theme we found out for all families, regardless of their composition was the need for love! Lindsey then shared the true story "And Tango Makes Three" . The children saw that Silo and Roy (two male penguins) were incredible parents who provided love, food and protection and taught Tango how to do so many things that she needed to do to survive. The children then explored what it is like to be labelled and through a variety of interactive activities that life is much easier without labels. Take a look at some of our photos and videos.
