Autumn 2

In Writing, we will write with emotion and look at how we can write purposfully to engage and entertain the reader. We will be using a video centred around a refugee child to inspire our own emotive diary entries. This will include lots of adverbials, prepositions, gripping descriptions and specific vocabulary that ensures our writing is purposeful.

In Maths, we will be focusing on multiplication and division and begin to calculate with fractions as well as convert and find their equivalent values.

In RE we will be learning about incarnation and discussing if Jesus was the Messiah.

In French we will be learning about days and times as well as cultural differences at Christmas.

In Oracy we will be developing our presentation skills and presenting our learning on the differences between Maya and Viking civilisations.

In History we will be travelling to Mesoamerica to learn all about the Maya civilisation. we will begin by learning about who they were and where they lived before exploring religion, society, war and their lifestyle. It will also see us compare the Maya to the Vikings and present our findings at the end of the term.

In PSHE we will be discussing and learning about smoking and the risks surrounding it.

In PE and Games we will be working on our running technique and developing our netball skills.

In Music, we will be practising Christmas songs for our performance in church and learning about projecting our voice and singing with dynamics.

Knowledge Organisers should be used to support your child throughout the topic being covered. They provide end points which is the knowledge that children will gain from this unit of work. They also show the learning that has taken place before and how this will link to future learning. Children will use these both in school and at home to supplement their learning, allowing us to work collaboratively together.
