This week Year 5 learnt about Charles Dickens. The children started the week by creating fact files about Dickens. This was followed by reading Great Expectations. We discussed the themes and characters of the book before moving onto producing wanted posters for the Grey Man in The Graveyard. These were fantastic! Year 5 then wrote setting descriptions of Miss Havisham’s dining room. They were full of exciting and engaging vocabulary and a range of sentence types. The children had lots of fun staining them with tea and making them look authentically old and tattered! We ended the week in ICT where we created advertisements for a cleaner to help Miss Havisham restore her dining room! Well done Year 5.
