SMSC and British Values
British Values
Meanwood Church of England Primary School promotes fundamental British Values. These values are best described under the following headings:
Democracy
The Rule of Law
Individual Liberty
Mutual Respect
Tolerance of those with Different Faiths
SMSC
SMSC stands for spiritual, moral, social and cultural. All schools in England must show how well their pupils develop in SMSC. We hope that these pages clearly identify how we do this within our school, community and families and how we meet some of the required outcomes.
Spiritual
Explore beliefs and experience; respect values; discover oneself and the surrounding world; use imagination and creativity; reflect.
Moral
Recognise right and wrong; understand consequences; investigate moral and ethical issues; offer reasoned views.
Social
Use social skills in different contexts; work well with others; resolve conflicts; understand how communities work.
Cultural
Appreciate cultural influences; participate in culture opportunities; understand, accept, respect and celebrate diversity.
