Sainsbury's School Games (Competitions)

Have a look at some of the competitions our children have competed in so far this year.

West Yorkshire School Games 2015

On Wednesday 25th March, our Year 4 cross team competed in the WYSG cross country final at Leeds Beckett University.  It was an olympic style event which had an opening ceremony where we paraded round with our banner before we began the cross country final race. It was a tough course and all of our children ran incredibly well.  Our Year 4 girls team won the event with Gemima Beckley finishing thrid out of a total of approximately 1200 participants!  This was an amazing achievement and we are incredibly proud of each and every one of you who ran your socks off.  The girls team were over the moon to bring the trophy back to school and show each class.  We can say with great certainty that the lunch time practises have paid off!
Year 5 Quick Sticks Hockey Competition

Well done to our Year 5 Quick Sticks team who took part in the annual hockey competition with over twenty six schools from all over Leeds competing against each other.  There were over 210 pupils taking part and it was lots of fun.  Our Quick Sticks hockey lessons during curriculum time have definitely paid off as we successfully made it to the semi-finals but unfortunately we didn't make it to the finals.

KS1 BEST Festival at Allerton C of E Primary School

During this academic year, our family of schools have prioritised organising competitions for our KS1 children.  The children were chosen to participate as a result of their behaviour (B), effort (E), skills (S) and teamwork (T) that they have demonstrated in their PE lessons within school.
'Come and Try' Basketball Competition

We are taking part in these fun festivals where our children are given the opportunity to showcase their basketball skills.  These sessions are delivered by Leeds Force Basketball Club and allow children to try out basketball and the links to the Leeds Force Basketball Club run at both Carr Manor Community School and Roundhay School on a weekly basis.

Family of Schools Netball tournaments

This year we have organised netball tournaments within our family of schools to increase the number of PE competitions.  The first is taking place on Tuesday 20th January at Wigton Moor Primary School
Leeds North East Cross Country Festival

Well done to all our children who competed in the annual Leeds North East Cross Country Festival at Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School.  Over four hundred children took part in the races and we were delighted with our Year 4 girls and boys team who qualified to represent Leeds at the West Yorkshire School Games on Wednesday 25th March.
