New Life in Reception: Chicks, Ducklings and Tadpoles

We have hatched both chicks and ducklings in Reception this year. The children have been superb at looking after them. We fed them, changed their water daily and gave them lots of hugs. When the chicks were 9 days old, we walked to Meanwood farm to watch them being released into their new home. There were other chicks in their big, new enclosure that our chicks soon became friendly with. We enjoyed exploring the farm, gardens and of course the adventure playground! The next week our ducklings arrived. They needed a little help from Miss Skelton to get out of their shells. They were very weak at first, but we have made sure that they had enough food, water and heat so that they could grow strong. Take a look at some of our photos.
