Temple Newsam

Temple Newsam

On Thursday 27th June Year 4 went to Temple Newsam to learn about the Tudors.  We learned how to make bread by threshing, winnowing and grinding the oats.  This was mixed with wheat flour, yeast and water (and pigeon droppings!) to make the bread that was baked in their stone ovens.  We also learned about how medicine was used in Tudor times - showing what was involved in an amputation.  Miss Jenkins ended up in the stocks as result of Tudor justice!
