Space Party

After sharing Nick Butterworth's story, "Q Pootle 5", the children asked if we could have our own moon party in Reception Class. The children applied their phonic skills fantastically to write lists of party foods that they would like at the party. The children made space jelly, observing and discussing the changes of state the jelly went through at each stage of the process. They also made star shaped sandwiches, pizzas, rocket shaped fruit and marshmellow kebabs and planet earth cookies. After preparing the food, the children played Musical Planets, Pin the Earth on the Solar System, Meteor ball (throwing balls of foil into numbered buckets and adding up their scores) and went on a hunt for moon rocks around the playground which had Milky Way Bars inside. The children had a great time. Take a look at some of our photos.
