As part of the Meanwood Poetry Recital Competition, lots of children in school spent hours at home learning a poem of their choice. The poem could be one they had written themselves, or one from another poet, or even lyrics from a song or rap! The initial round of the competition was held in classrooms, with year 6 children going to a semi final, as the competition was so tough. In the second round of auditions five children in year 6 had the task of performing in the staffroom - quite a scary prospect. Eventually, after these 'class heats' (and one daunting staffroom performance!) seven winners were chosen to perform their poem in our Friday assembly. The recitals were all so good, a winner could not be decided upon! The respect shown for all competing was really something. Well done everyone.
